Web applications that have uses different from commonly known uses. Examples are task managers and web page editing apps.
1. TinyURL: http://tinyurl.com/ TinyURL allows you to turn your long URLs into shorter ones. Just copy and paste the long URL and turn it into a tiny URL. So for example when your showing sources on a word document you highlight the old URL and paste in the tiny URL. It is especially useful when citing sources for a project.
I use TinyURL to shorten long URL's. This is especially useful when listing links for a PowerPoint or word document. Here is a screenshot of me shortening the link of a document I'm using and making it into a tiny URL.
2. Mitto:http://mitto.com/ Mitto is a great password managing site that promises and delivers enhanced security. If you have trouble remembering passwords this will be a great help. All though the range of sites to password manage is limited it still works great giving you a simple dashboard feel when looking at passwords you've forgotten. This web based app also has great security as it asks three security questions to protect your passwords and uses security phrases to protect your e mail. This is a great site if your having trouble remembering the password to a site you need to use in school. Also it keeps your passwords safe from hackers as well. I use Mitto as a way to remember and store passwords for both sites for school work as well as sites for personal use. This is a screenshot of me checking how many passwords I have listed as well as checking what they are for.
3.Remember the Milk:http://www.rememberthemilk.com/ Task management is not my forte luckily I have this app to make sure I get the job done. I can use this tool online or offline. The app allows you to underline or bold overdue tasks as well as set ones that have to be finised. There are to ways to end a task either by completing it or postponing it. You are also able to put your tasks into three folders personal, study and work. This app is good for me due to the fact that I have troubles organizing what homework to get done and when. This program is useful not only for 2.0 students but any student period as well as people who are not in school and are now part of the work force. I find that Remember the Milk is a great way to task manage which comes in handy with my busy high school schedule and helps me organize during the toughest times of the year like exam weeks. This picture shows me listing tasks I need to get complete before semester turn around for school as well as two other folders of tasks for work outside of school and the other folder is for my personal life.
